The Law Society has issued new guidance on how to identify when the care or treatment of someone accounts to a deprivation of their liberty. It focuses on specific care settings and uses case scenarios to explain the law following the landmark judgements of the Supreme Court in the case of Cheshire West (2014).

This is an important area which potentially impacts on anyone associated with a person with a disability.

The Law Society Guidance is well worth reading at least in outline. They have also provided a podcast to provide a quick overview.
