I have had a hectic start to the year, but I wouldn’t want it any other way!

2019 was a great year for myself and my business. My indoor karting track TeamKarting started its Racing With Autism club, which is an inclusive karting session for people on the spectrum.

This got picked up by BBC sports and then featured it on both TV and all social media channels, which gave our program great exposure and subsequently this has grown from strength to strength. Please click here to read the article.

With regular drivers visiting up on a monthly and some times weekly basis, some of these drivers got very good and progressed to our race team TK-Xtra which travels the country and races at events all over the UK and proudly supports the #RacingWithAutism program. In fact some of our star drivers are on the spectrum and this goes to show how much of a level playing field motor-sport and karting in general can be.

TeamKarting - Matty StreetHalfway through 2019, I also signed up to join “TeamBrit”, a race team that have ambitions to make motor-sport more inclusive.

From this,  myself another one of the drivers Bobby Trundley and founder Dave Player formed the TeamBrit Racing with Autism Kart Team (which help support young autistic karters), this shines a light on in their karting careers with the aim of boosting their profiles, so that they can reach the higher ethos of the support.

The team is now made up of some amazing young driving talent, I now feel like the weak link in the team!

This year we have some amazing things in the pipeline, some of which will be revealed in due course. Meanwhile, I am racing with TeamBrit in BritCar, teamkarting is expanding the inclusive karting program through the use of its two seat kart and hand controls.

We also have a new venture with is a national karting championship (Cadet Kart Championship) with 7 rounds at 7 track all across the UK.

It is safe to say that I am going to be on the road a lot in 2020.

I also have a number of events booked in, where I shall be speaking about my own journey from being school drop out and now a serial entrepreneur and also what is best practice as I feel work in motor-sport can be made to make it more inclusive to people on the spectrum.

I look forward to working with Anna and the AKO Team in 2020 and building further based on the work collaborated since 2018.
