About Kilmarnock Animal Rescue

Kilmarnock Animal Rescue is a charity that has been saving sick and abandoned animals in the surrey area.

It gives refuge to those who have been neglected and gives them the chance to recover and be rehomed.

It is well known for its good work in the equestrian world, and the first call from local people and authorities when animals are in need.

Due to the effect of COVID many similar Charites have been forced to close and leaves this most needed organisation who dedicate their service 24 hours a day, to the sometimes-heart-breaking cases, but through hard work and determination help bring new life and forever homes for these poor animals who would have nowhere else to go.

Kilmarnock is situated in Norwood Hill and seeks a 5-7 temporary year planning permission to provide removable stables and storage buildings to house the animals and feed until hopefully a permanent site can be found. This has been refused by Mole Valley Planning Dept.

Director of the charity, Carol Jackson shared that she would appeal against the decision:

“I’m disappointed but I’m not going to let it faze me as such because I’ve been through a hell of a lot this year and last year.

I’ve lost my son and all sorts of things have happened. We are the only ones in the Surrey area that seem to be helping out the police.

There are no other rescues around here. We do so much within the community, we take the donkeys to church, we go to St Catherine’s Hospice, we are out at nursing homes. We do so much with the community because we enjoy what we are doing.

Everything we’ve done is what we were told to do. We put trees along the boundaries to keep it nice and green, it’s a difficult one. What else can we do? We were told we didn’t need planning permission because these were mobile shelters that can be moved.”
