Everyone is now back to school after half term and the gloom and pressure has already descended on so many of our children as they go straight back into yet more mocks and tests. There seems to be little or no regard for mental health whatsoever as we squeeze our kids like toothpaste tubes. I feel sorry for the teachers too as they feel the pressure from a government which in my opinion is a million miles removed from real people and all we are going through.

We have also now got Putin thrown into all the mixed messages regarding Covid. Anxiety is everywhere.

So, this in this week’s video I thought I would share four extremely simple hand massage techniques which can be self-administered and are fabulous for our kids with autism or sensory processing “disorder” (how I hate that word!! Why cannot it be a “difference” instead!). The muscles of the hand relate directly to the brain, so these four techniques done just twice a day (it takes 5 minutes) really bring all that absolutely delicious serotonin (happiness, confidence, self-esteem) and dopamine (feeling able to cope and function, they feel of reward and pleasure, motivation, attention, and focus) zooming up from your guts to your brains.

If you make a habit of doing this, it will feed a new positive memory of being able to cope better, worry less and being less anxious to all your thirty-eight billion cells, the memory in your water and the memory in your immune system!! In time this will in turn form a new POSITIVE neurological pathway inside your brain.

Taking your mental health quite literally in hand will really help you as we all know that seeing doctors is near on impossible and the waiting lists for therapists or CAMHS are huge. Be feeling empowers your serotonin levels will automatically increase by a whopping 16% too!!

So please use these tools I share weekly with you because I promise you that really DO work – on a neuroscientific level.
