Supporting Students in the States – Loveartpix
An analysis into the insignificantly researched and intricacy that is Autism and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
A couple of weeks back I received an email through my website from a student who attended Great Bridge High School, Chesapeake, Virginia USA.
The email was from 19 year old Lauryn Lewis, who was requesting to interview me about my experience with Autism and CPTSD as she had come across me whilst searching online. This was for an essay she was writing for her studies, so I was more than happy to help or support in any way I could.
Lauryns Diagnosis; Autism, ADHD, Adjustment Insomnia, Generalised Anxiety, C-PTSD, Bipolar Type 2
“I started writing an inquiry essay for my college composition class, and the teacher told us, “You can write about anything you want, as long as it supports your claims.” Due to my personal experience and the belief that autism and C-PTSD are not researched enough, I chose this topic. Originally, I was going to focus on autistic women and C-PTSD, but while I was searching on Google one day – trying to find artwork that I could use to depict the impact of C-PTSD – I came across Loveartpix’s blog picture titled “Autism, C-PTSD, and Me.” I thought, “This is exactly what I’m writing about!”
I also needed someone to interview for the project, so I looked on his website and emailed him. To my surprise, he replied the same day! The following week, we had a 30-minute meeting, and he was very punctual and articulate. He clearly knew what he was talking about. He even emailed me the answers to my questions (I knew I wouldn’t remember them later because… ADHD).” – Lauryn Lewis
I am so pleased to say that Lauryn passed her essay, scoring 81%, which is great – Well done!
Knowing that the next generation is forward-thinking in turning their personal struggles into power fills me with hope. Lauryn is a remarkably bright individual, and her thirst for understanding and driving positive change in society is truly commendable.
Please give her essay a read on the link below and leave some positive feedback to show support in the comments section.
