All things autism: Dirk Davieds

Dirk, a German expatriate living in England since 2003, resides with partner Kim, offering mutual support despite her disability. Educated in Germany, he pursued carpentry in England, working at a Somerset sawmill for 19 years. Suspecting autism, Dirk awaits an NHS test amid delays, coping with stress through gaming and finding solace in routine at work. He advocates for improved understanding and support for autistic individuals, emphasizing the need for reasonable adjustments in employment. Dirk highlights the struggle for neurotypicals to comprehend autistic experiences, urging empathy and recognition of their unique perspectives.

Catch Anna on “All Things Autism” every Monday at 1am and 1pm on Women’s Radio Station
