Meet The Pods

Alison’s son, Roman, is autistic. As he grew up, she became very conscious  of the daily challenges he faced as well as future opportunities for him in the  workplace. Keen to ensure Roman, and others like him, were given every  chance to be a part of a working environment, Alison decided to set up a  company with an all-inclusive attitude. The company is called  ‘Meet The Pods’ and inclusion is at the heart of everything they do. Inclusivity is clearly reflected in every aspect of the company, from The Pod characters, to the creative team and its contributors, to their viewers and followers  ensuring no-one feels left out.

Initially, the concept was to create a range of multi-sensory toys, but first she  needed to create a group of characters. Collaboration began with their lead  artist, Patrick, who is also autistic and a remarkably talented illustrator. He  has an exceptional ability to create characters and through his expressive  drawing is able to effortlessly convey emotions and feelings. Working very  closely to Alison’s brief and through his extraordinary talent The Pods were  born.

The Pods are a group of 8 characters that are always looking to have fun,  trying to understand the world and motivate, inspire, and entertain all those  they meet. Each of The Pods have their own quirks and personality traits and  celebrate their strengths together through humour and teamwork. Through  their unique diversity, they help children to learn and understand that we are  all individuals and collectively we can acknowledge each other’s strengths,  qualities, and individualities.

Every detail reflects inclusion as the core of the Pods as a company and  brand, right down to its very own font, which is a fusion of Roman and  Patrick’s handwriting.

As well as being a very talented artist, Patrick also wrote, illustrated, and  narrated a video for Anna’s Anti Bullying Campaign. https://youtu.be/kjk90_5lpbs

From there he was given the privilege of speaking at the Autism’ Got Talent in  London. He was a natural on stage and loved every minute of it.

Patrick continues to create regular content for The Pods and together with  Alison they share daily quotes, jokes, and positive inspiration on their social  media platforms. Currently, Team Pod is excited to be working on a line of  multi-sensory toys, along with an animation centred around inclusivity.

As The Pods continue to grow, they are committed to donating a portion of  their profits to charities supporting autism and special needs. Keep an eye out  for them in the future!
